Unlike the first game multiplayer is now supported through cooperative sessions for up to six players, both locally and online. Instead of the dungeon descending structure of the original game, the sequel has large above-ground environments with hub towns and each one has a couple of separate dungeons that consist of one floor or multiple ones. There are now snowy areas, deserts, forests etc. There are more classes, pets and weapon types and the locations to visit are more varied. Many elements from the original hack-and-slash RPG Torchlight (fishing, pets, etc) make a return in the sequel, including the randomly generated dungeons. New heroes arrive to rise up against his madness with the help of the destroyer and the vanquisher, other two playable characters from the first game. Now he is on a rampage for taking the power of guardians and breaking the balance of elements. That way you can afford everything in coins more or less from the first boss onwards, and use coins without a care for healing, providing you have the relic. After the events of the first game, Alchemist, one of the three main classes, is corrupted by the Emberblight from the heart of Ordrak, the main source of corruption beneath the town of Torchlight. Either that or combine 1000 gold blessing + double your money on boss kills. Thing is, that extra 100 corruption safety net will only buy you, what, an extra top end item and a low end item? You may as well just use the extra boss drops and hope to get lucky. So as a comparison I find the corruption threshold to be much better than 1000 gold in terms of access to upgrades. This actually increases as you get further in the run and things increase in gold cost but not corruption cost. The general rule is 20 corruption is worth a bit more than 500 gold. The increased threshold means it takes 100 more total corruption before you hit the 5th curse. Consider that gold and corruption are basically interchangeable.
